If you have the early signs od decay on the tooth enamel, say a little browning, is it possible to reverse that? I am sure I saw a toothpast advert once that said it was possible to reverse tooth decay and repair the tooth enamel, but somebody else told me this is rubbish!

Anyone know for sure?

Hi,

I am afraid it is not possible to reverse tooth decay, and even less with a toothpaste. These ads keep misleading us all the time, don't they? :-)

The only way to fix a cavity (=caries = tooth decay) is to go to the dentist and get a filling. Better to go sooner rather than later, or it slowly will make its way to the root. Then you won't need a filling but a root canal, if it is too late!

Ouch, oh well , thanks for the reply, it is what I expected but not what I had hoped LOL.

 

And I definetly do not want a root canal because I have heard some horror stories about them, although I don't even really know what they are LOL.
